A Free Grocery Market for Our Neighbors
The Gathering Place is a welcoming, dignified space where families in the Greater Williamsburg and Grove community can shop for the foods they need most — at no cost. More than a pantry, it is a full-choice grocery market built on compassion, respect and the belief that no one should have to worry about how they will feed the people they love.
Here, neighbors find not just fresh food and household essentials, but also kindness, connection and a sense of belonging.

A Dignified, Choice-Based Shopping Experience
Every household is different, and every family deserves the dignity of choosing the foods that fit their needs. The Gathering Place offers:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables (including produce grown at the Rob Till Community Garden)
- Pantry staples like rice, pasta, beans and canned goods
- Meat, dairy and frozen items when available
- Household essentials and personal care products
- Diapers and adult incontinence products
- Kid-friendly snacks and family favorites
Shelves are restocked consistently thanks to community donations, partner organizations and the dedicated volunteers who keep the market running.
Who Can Shop Here
The Gathering Place serves individuals and families in the Grove and greater Williamsburg community and who need support.
There is no cost, no judgment and no complicated requirements — just neighbors helping neighbors.

How It Works
- Check In
When you arrive, our volunteers will greet you and help check you in. If you have never visited Grove Christian Outreach Center, please bring your proof of residency documents, such as a copy of a rent or lease statement or a utility bill. Your driver’s license and Social Security statement ARE NOT proof of residency documents. - Shop With Choice
Stroll through the market, select the items your household needs and take your time. Volunteers are available to help if you have questions. - Take Home Your Groceries
Bags and boxes are provided but you are encouraged and welcome to bring your re-usable shopping bags. Enjoy your fresh groceries with dignity and peace of mind.
